Math:
We have begun Module 2 and are almost finished with topic A. This is a review of telling time and learning the skill of telling elapsed time. Students have been learning to use a timeline to answer word problems. We will continue this until Thanksgiving break. You may want to be asking your child the time and having them read the clock for practice. This is a life skill and the more they practice, the more comfortable they are with it. After break we will turn our focus to measuring with metrics.
Science:
Makerspace is in full swing on Fridays. We have lots of mechanisms beginning to move which has created a great deal of excitement. We added a glue station and I am really proud of how respectful they are working with the tools and with each other. We will show our completed projects on December 15th at the Gallery of Maker and Literacy Projects for Third Grade. Please come and join us to see their hard work.
Students are finishing some group projects about endangered animals. They will be presenting to each other on Monday and Tuesday before break to work on presentation skills. I am looking forward to hearing what they learned about their animals. After break we will move on to working with magnets.
