Upcoming Events:
October 2nd: Picture Day
October 4th: Walk to School Day
October 5th: Lion's Club Eye Screening
October 6th: Early Release
Math:
The students were introduced to Zearn, an online extension of Eureka Math program. Students can access this from the WSESU Dashboard. They can use this as at home as well, if families are eager for at home practice. We will use it in class as review and for skill building. The program reviews lessons with audio and video components. There is also math chats and skill building for fluency during the missions. It benefits all students from those needing extra practice and support to those that can move ahead at their own pace.
Students also worked on math centers, and played some rounds of "Mathological Liar", which is a game that encourages talking about math with peers as they figure out cases that need to be solved. As I begin my return, we will be using Eureka whole group lessons, small groups, Zearn practice lessons, Mobymax fluency and gap filling lessons, math centers, and math games.
Our content will continue studies of multiplication and division as I return for half days next week and then a full return on October 9th. I will be glad to get back into the classroom.
Science:
By Monday, the students will be completing their life cycle studies. They will use their posters as guides of knowledge during their assessment. We will then turn our focus to Heredity; Inherited Traits vs. Learned Behaviors for the next couple of weeks.
