Science :
All third grade Maker Projects and reflections on display today. The students have worked diligently and learned many problem solving skills during their first projects. They put finishing touches on and the projects will be coming home today.
We also were lucky to have a 4 Winds presentation with the help of Nikki Buck. We learned about seeds and how they travel. Each student made a version of a wind traveling seed to bring home. The students are excited to help out with the puppet show portion of the presentation, and this week we many volunteers to do this. We will take turns as the year goes on so everyone can have a chance if they would like.
Math:
Students used metric beakers to learn about liters and milliliters. They were able to learn this relatively quickly after learning about grams and kilograms. We are now focusing on word problems using metric weights and really looking at the addition and subtraction using place values. I think spending a few days on this will help as they review basic skills. These are important building blocks in third grade.
School wide celebration:
Our middle school buddies visited us to make snowflakes and drink hot cocoa. When they were finished, we played board games, puzzles, and card games to get to know each other. It was really nice to build relationships with the older students.
